I’m working on the Author’s Note and Acknowledgments for The Snow Queen’s Shadow [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy].
Sometimes this part feels repetitive, since I tend to thank mostly the same people with every book. But then, these are the same people who help me improve the story, who take it from manuscript to finished book. I think it’s important to thank them, and to remember that this isn’t something I could do alone.
I’m thinking about trying to include a bit more information this time around. So I was wondering — if there were one question you could ask me about writing or about the princess series, what would it be? I don’t mean spoilers, but what sort of behind-the-scenes info would be most interesting to you as a reader?
Or just in general, if you do read author notes and such, what sort of thing makes them enjoyable and worth reading?
To the authors out there, what are your thoughts on acknowledgments and author notes?
I suspect I might be overthinking this whole thing, but hey, it’s what I do!

I'm willing to bet that this characteristic is a geek trait, or possibly a fannish trait, because it seems to be the root of that impulse when I make my mother watch Doctor Who to try and get her to pay closer attention to the small details because they pay off later. I also really love in-jokes, coincidences, and synchronicity. Ah, the pattern-loving brain.
I think I might be curious to read a little about your expectations about the series when you set out versus how it ultimately played out and your view as an author finishing them up. I'm guessing you can't put a whole essay in there, but I'm also a sucker for seeing things play out on the way to a great payoff.

I know what you mean, though. I get such a kick about knowing the details, or the behind-the-scenes stuff ... the dice in the Millenium Falcon, the jokes linking one episode of Dr. Who to another, John Scalzi's book getting a second of screentime in Stargate: Universe, that sort of thing.
I definitely don't want to squeeze an entire essay in, especially given my schedule for turning this in, but the suggestions I'm getting have helped me figure out what I can do. Thanks!
